Representative Cases:
- Litigation of hundreds of state sales tax, franchise tax, mixed beverage tax, natural gas production tax and other state tax law issues for the State Comptroller of Public Accounts. Currently litigating appeals in state district court of sales tax audit assessments against two Houston convenience store owners, a district court challenge to the denial of a Public Information Act request and several mixed beverage tax cases before the State Office of Administrative Hearings. Previously handled water and wastewater utility, municipal finance, interlocal contracts, land development, real estate, annexation, legislative and numerous other municipal law issues.
Experience:
- Formerly Assistant City Attorney for City of Austin and City of Tyler.
- He has extensive experience as a municipal attorney and water utility attorney and worked extensively with area municipal utility districts and cities and the Lower Colorado River Authority.
- More recently, as a former Assistant General Counsel for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, he gained tax experience with respect to sales and use tax, franchise tax, mixed beverage tax, natural gas production tax and other state tax law issues.
- Previous private practice experience in business, corporate and commercial law and litigation.
